British prisoner of war Michael Andrews is saved from a firing squad by his mysterious cellmate John Stevenson. As they flee across mountainous terrain to safety, Andrews suspects Stevenson of being an enemy spy and is wounded in their clash. Recovering in a hospital in Cairo, Andrews falls in love with nurse Rosemary Haydon, not knowing her connection to Stevenson.
