If SMASH CITY starts with a series of hoary tropes that echo dully the arc of many a film of this genre that have come before, by the end it has pulled itself together enough to deliver a climax with genuine uncertainty fueling that action.

While it’s true that there isn’t much that is unique about Splash City, the film boasts gripping performances that allow this crime thriller to rise above its sometimes lacking script.

Shows a lot of potential for the directors. Creates a compelling sense of place. Gritty crime drama

Showcasing sensational performances from Shannon and Brooks, Splash City is all about the choices we make in life and finding resilience in living with the consequences of our decisions and is a compelling, audacious directorial debut.

There are definitely some enjoyable elements here, but the plot and messaging are the same as its forebears.
