Whether or not you enjoy Minions & Monsters will come down to what you expect from the film. If you okay with a little bit nostalgia mixed with some silliness you will love it and I can guarantee you will get laughs throughout.

Minions & Monsters is more of the same, while also a testament and celebration of the magic of making and watching movies, with earnest love for the era that shines through. For the first time, the brain isn’t turning to mush watching one of these

Starts out with a clever first act that will appeal especially to movie buffs before getting bogged down in familiar anarchic action and some rather dull new characters.

I wasn’t expecting a reference to the 1895 short Workers Leaving the Lumière Factory in Minions & Monsters, but it just goes to show that, even in their seventh big-screen outing, those miniature yellow blobs still have some surprises up their sleeves.

This spin-off franchise is still the work of talented filmmakers trying to distract us from realizing that we're just watching a mercenary exercise in corporate brand extension.
