Paul Newman stars as the handsome, ambitious and ruthless young gigolo who pays a visit to his small hometown in the company of an aging film star in this film version of Tennessee Williams' play. In his quest to become a movie star, Chance Wayne (Newman) will use anyone--the girlfriend he left behind and the actress who pays for the affection of a handsome young man. But when Chance comes home, his good looks may not protect him from the wrath of the people he has hurt. Ed Begley won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
