In a tonal twist that's mildly humorous, just as it can be in HBO's similarly themed "Hung,'' "The Client List'' celebrates Samantha's pluck for agreeing to have sex for money.

Frankly, a movie pitched as "Jennifer Love Hewitt plays a mom turned hooker" pretty much sells itself, which is why "The Client List" is such a pleasant surprise.

In the manner of all such Lifetime productions, The Client List managed to offer cheap thrills...while offering moral uplift.

...a predictable and almost distractingly one-note Lifetime drama that seems to have been geared exclusively towards the lowest common denominator...

Elects a soft route of melodrama, using pleasant actors to communicate desperation, refusing salacious details to play right to the target demographic of sympathetic mothers and wives.
