A companion piece to the hit film The Social Network, Sorkin’s original screenplay is based on the events that gave rise to the Wall Street Journal’s shocking exposé The Facebook Files. The film is inspired by the true story of how Frances Haugen (Madison), a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network’s most guarded secrets.

Critics Consensus: An urgent warning that feels like it's arriving a little too late, Aaron Sorkin's spiritual sequel to one of his crowning achievements is a worthwhile critique of social media's omnipresence that nonetheless pales in comparison to its predecessor.

The Social Reckoning is a piece of disingenuous mythmaking that pretends to give Zuckerberg the comeuppance many have desired.

Sorkin’s lack of directing/filmmaking talent combined with tonal whiplash and murky delivery winds up rendering The Social Reckoning far less West Wing and far more (derogatory) The Newsroom. Congratulations, Captain Hindsight, this was all very bad.

An entertaining watch with some great performances and razor-sharp dialogue. While it probably won’t have the critical or commercial appeal of the first film, it’s a reminder of why we are where we are in this world of divisiveness and connectivity.

...an erratically-paced endeavor that contains few (if any) wholeheartedly memorable scenes or sequences...

I can’t help but be fascinated by 'The Social Reckoning'. Is it a good sequel? No. But I don’t even think it’s a sequel. Watch this new film without dwelling too much on the previous one, and you’ll feel freer as a viewer. [Full review in Spanish].
