It circles around from "bad" to "good" and then back to "bad" before landing at "upsettingly entertaining."

The surfing scenes are still thrilling (the film was shot on South Africa's beaches), and the chemistry between the two friends is refreshingly sweet and collaborative.

If they set out with the intention of referencing every surfing cliché imaginable, then the makers of Blue Crush 2 have certainly succeeded, dude.

Blue Crush fans, it's time to rejoice. The film you've been waiting for is finally here! Buy it today! Everyone else, on the other hand, skip this one.

Considering the rotten quality of the original film, it seems all the sequel had to do was show up and surf. Instead, we get elephant poaching and endless looks of pinched bewilderment. I've never missed John Stockwell more.
