In Vienna, Lieutenant Nikolaus "Niki" von Preyn falls for spirited violinist Franzi, but a playful wink meant for her traps him in a royal mix-up. Niki soon finds himself swept down the aisle of a lavish royal wedding to dowdy Princess Anna before being spirited away to a neighboring kingdom.
