Fed up with New York life, Susan Applegate heads home but finds herself short on train fare and poses as a 12-year-old to buy a half-price ticket. When she hides in a compartment with handsome Major Philip Kirby, he insists on taking little "Sue Sue" to his military academy after the train stalls. As Susan falls for Philip, she struggles to keep her secret before her clever ruse ends in scandal.

The dialogue is spot-on; rarely has a comedy been designed with such expert pacing for dispensing laughs, as well as a knack for arranging sensationally absurd interactions that feel natural in the context of the story.

A comedy from Billy Wilder in which I spend quite a nice time with the romantic adventures of Ray Milland and Ginger Rogers. Full review in Spanish

Sure, she has her requisite moment to show off her dancing abilities, but what The Major and the Minor really showcases is Roger's dexterity for comedic timing.

Never mind that the 31-year-old Rogers never really looks 12 -- she's funny and frisky throughout.
