Wartime friends Charles Bancroft (Glenn Corbett) and Joe Kojaku (James Shigeta) are both partners in the LAPD and roommates in a luxurious bachelor apartment. With the murder of a local burlesque queen, their investigation leads to Christine Downs (Victoria Shaw), an artist who painted the stripper's portrait. In danger after identifying a suspect, Christine moves in with the detectives, where her presence creates a tense romantic triangle that threatens to come between them. As they vie for her attention, the two sleuths find that, rather than the man Christine fingered, it was his jealous Japanese girlfriend who committed the murder. And with the case solved, Charlie reconciles with Joe as he wishes him and Christine well in their fledgling romance.
