In this spellbinding thriller, detectives Jake Doyle (Martin Lawrence) and Mary Kelly (Melissa Roxburgh) seek the help of an incarcerated serial killer named The Artist (John Malkovich) when a copycat killer strikes. Forgettable thriller.

It's a familiar premise, but it ultimately takes a very different and far less entertaining turn.

We can admire and enjoy the fact that Mindcage winds up doing things we don’t anticipate, but the film might have been better served if it got more outrageous a little earlier.

Despite some top-notch scenery chewing by John Malkovich as a deranged serial killer, a series of preposterous final-act twists drains any remaining tension, credibility, and emotional investment.
