Detective Fred Rowan investigates the shooting of a doctor outside Bellevue Hospital and goes undercover as an intern to find the killer. He befriends the hospital's elevator operator and a ward nurse, whom he begins to date. As Rowan follows a trail of secrets, potential witnesses wind up dead, and he uncovers a deadly truth. Suddenly, everyone is a suspect and no one can be trusted.
