Ginger Rogers, Ronald Reagan, and Doris Day star in this uncharacteristic drama in which a vacationing model discovers that her sister's husband is a murderous Ku Klux Klansman. While visiting relatives in a small town, Marsha Mitchell (Rogers) witnesses the beating death of a man at the hands of the Klan and soon discovers that the whole town is controlled by the group--and that her loutish brother-in-law (Steve Cochran) is a member. District Attorney Burt Rainey (Reagan) finally breaks the stranglehold of the hooded terrorists, but not before further tragedy occurs.
