Young attorney Bob Regan accepts a lucrative job protecting wealthy businessman Andrew Colby, who claims a former associate, Leopold Kroner, has threatened his life after being released from prison. However, Regan soon becomes the fall guy for murder and uncovers a scheme that pulls him deeper into a web of deception and hidden motives.

Vincent Price, Ella Raines and Edmund O'Brien star in this unheralded film noir about a twisted love triangle that's now out in a handsome Blu-ray edition from Kino Lorber.

Yet another reminder that Vincent Price was an excellent dramatic actor before he became almost exclusively known as a horror star.

A wealth of spontaneous humor and a few exceptionally well realized characters more than compensate for the none-too-plausible plot of this cops-and-robbers chase.

The story is no more than a fair excuse for the neat moviemaking which makes this picture entertaining.
