The entire ensemble brings it with memorable performances by Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Martyn Ford as Shao Kahn and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana. An incredibly fun addition to the Mortal Kombat film franchise.

Hyper-faithful to the game. Completely unbothered by narrative depth. Make of that what you will.

I need these films to pick a lane. Either commit to being a silly Mortal Kombat movie or commit to the tonal poignancy it sets up in the opening minutes, but the attempt to do both is pretty absurd.

Mortal Kombat II comes out slightly better [than Mario Galaxy] because there are actual bodies getting tossed around, except when those people are replaced with squishy CGI.

Crowd-pleasing entertainment that fans of the video game might call "flawless victory", but the average moviegoer can label it as a lively and enjoyable popcorn flick.
