Critics Consensus: Jennifer Garner inhabits her role with earnest gusto, but Elektra's tone deaf script is too self-serious and bereft of intelligent dialogue to provide engaging thrills.

Even at just a slim 96 minutes, the film drags in places, with a predictable plot.

The real issue I have with this movie is how uneventful so much of it feels.

The special effects are well realized and enough attention is paid to the character of Elektra to make her a formidable rival to any number of Wolverines.

This movie passes the Bechdel Test and the Knope Friendship Test. It's also way better than it gets credit for.

Garner, who showed a promising comic touch last year in 13 Going On 30, does her movie career no favors here.
