Madeline, a conniving jewelry thief, uses Tom, an unwitting American tourist, to smuggle her latest haul out of France. When he accidentally ends up with the jewels, Madeline pretends to fall for him to get them back, but her charade quickly turns into real feelings.

Cooper is charming, hilarious, sweet - and that smile is so swoon-worthy. It's one of his best performances. Dietrich is enchanting. She gets to play at mysterious, sultry, seductive and, yes, she sings!
