John Wayne stars as John Simpson Chisum, "King of the Pecos" and the most powerful man in 1870s New Mexico Territory in this Western loosely based on a true story. Like other Wayne movies, there's complete identification between reel and real life: Chisum is described as "fat wealthy, tough, trusting, stubborn, generous, and sentimental."
