If there’s one thing Black Phone 2 is offering, its gruesome deaths.

It’s generally humorless, is too grim for its own good and quickly gets repetitive as the film lurches tediously near the two-hour mark and a silly, overcooked climax.

At its best, Black Phone 2 is eerie, atmospheric, and competently made. At its worst, it feels like an echo of something that once felt original.
