Academy Award-winning director Steven Soderbergh plunges audiences into the suspense and drama of a resilient woman’s fight to reclaim her freedom even as she risks her own sanity. Still scarred from the trauma of being terrorized by a stalker, Sawyer Valentini (Claire Foy, The Crown) receives treatments at the Highland Creek Behavioral Center. However, shortly after she unwittingly commits herself to the mental institution and is unable to leave, she catches sight of a facility staffer who, she is convinced, is actually her stalker. But is he real or a production or delusion?

What Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that Unsane is director Steven Soderbergh's horror/thriller about a woman (Claire Foy) traumatized by a stalker. Violence is strong and disturbing: Viewers will see stabbing/slashing, enforced confinement and doping, attempted rape, and the discovery of dead bodies. Language is also an issue, with repeated use of "f--k" and a few other words. Drugs are discussed and used. And then there's the fact that the movie is all about a relentless stalker and someone being confined against her will, which could bother young viewers very much. On the plus side, the main character is a smart, capable woman.
