Lauren Hutton’s Leigh ranks quite easily among the more thrilling female protagonists of the 1970s. And Carpenter’s script affords her a wicked sense of humor and gleeful resourcefulness.

Overall this is a standard "made for TV" movie, albeit with a few visual flourishes from John Carpenter. What sets it apart is Adrienne Barbeau playing an amazing queer woman in the 70s. What a character!

Like Michael Mann with The Jericho Mile, it ably demonstrated that Carpenter was someone too skilled to only be confined to boob-tube fodder.
