In this revenge comedy from Academy Award®-nominated* writer Paul Weitz, Claire (Academy Award® winner* Jane Fonda) and Evelyn (Academy Award® nominee* Lily Tomlin) are estranged friends who reunite to get even with Howard (Malcolm McDowell), the petulant widower of their recently deceased best friend. The film is funny, but it lacks the tenderness and chemistry audiences have come to expect from the Fonda-Tomlin dynamic. The film also tries to pack in way too many elements... I think an effort was made to share a story and send a message.

The balance between the two is hit or miss for me, and the suspense of the story isn’t very suited for the type of comedy Tomlin and Fonda are giving.
