Stay off the moors! This is it, the first film to REALLY mix comedy and horror successfully. Two American students are attacked by a werewolf when they wander off a country road. One is killed, the other is infected with the beastly condition. As the night falls, he is unable to control himself and transforms into a werewolf. Each person he kills haunts him, as they cannot rest until the bloodline of the werewolf is severed. The corpses make a dark situation hilarious, with dozens of clever quips. Griffin Dunne, as the surviving American's undead (and rapidly decaying) friend is one of the highlights. The special effects, particularly the legendary transformation scene, still hold up today. John Landis (Animal House) directed from his own script, showing he knows horror just as well as he knows comedy.
