Halle Berry, Vivica A. Fox and Lela Rochon star as the three wives of 1950s pop singing star Frankie Lymon. At 13 Frankie Lymon rocketed to stardom with electrifying vocal performances. His charisma was as strong off stage as on, and he married three times in his short life--but he never divorced his first two wives. And each wife knew a different Frankie Lymon: teenage superstar, drug-addict on a downward spiral and quiet serviceman. Only after Lymon's death do the three women meet--and discover they share a love for the same man whose music still entertains people all over the world.

Why Do Fools Fall in Love, in its own glossy, entertaining way, is a deeper examination of how an individual can use numerous masks to conceal himself, even from the ones he loves.

Why Do Fools Fall In Love never really conveys the essence of its subject.

"Why Do Fools Fall in Love" is a misfire in several ways, but the key problem is that the writers have a clunky, concrete Christmas tree, not something thematic that can be used to devise scenes of various shades and colors.

Too ill defined to emerge from the pack of box office also-rans.
