When Shaggy develops a hysterical response to fear, his doctor suggests that he stay away from any Mystery Inc. adventures. At Daphne's suggestion, Scooby-Doo and the gang, including Velma and Fred, head to a resort spa in a desert town for a relaxing vacation. While there, they discover that the leafy hamlet is the site of an important paleontological discovery. But it's not the fossilized dinosaurs that the meddling kids have to worry about. Giant dinosaur ghosts keep scaring off the locals! Meanwhile, Shaggy undergoes hypnosis to cope with his fears, but some unexpected side effects get him into trouble with a bunch of bikers and eventually land him in jail! Also, Velma develops a crush on a young paleontologist and misses some crucial clues. Scooby and the others eventually encounter the horrible Phantosaur, which seems intent on keeping a group of paleontologists from digging fossils. What could be behind this prehistoric haunting?

Common Sense Says
Funny dinosaur-ghost adventure is too spooky for young kids.

What Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that this animated Scooby-Doo adventure features potentially frightening sequences of ghost dinosaurs that may be too intense for preschoolers. As in most of the Scooby gang's escapades, there are some moments of tension and peril, but no one is seriously hurt. In this story, Velma flirts with a like-minded young scientist, and the two go out to dinner and even briefly touch hands. But forget fledgling romance: Scooby and his four teen mates are all about crime-solving collaboration.
