The summer of 1963 innocent 17-year-old Baby (Jennifer Grey) vacations with her parents at a Catskill's resort. One evening she is drawn to the staff quarters by stirring music. There she meets Johnny (Patrick Swayze), the hotel dance instructor, who is as experienced as Baby is naive. Baby soon becomes Johnny's pupil in dance and love.

Dirty Dancing delivers classic romance, iconic choreography, and a killer soundtrack, earning its place as a beloved film while reminding us of the social and cultural world it reflects.

The characters are as interesting off the dance floor as on.

“Dirty Dancing” is one of the only films from this era that depicts a girl’s embracing her sexual desire and agency—without regret.

The use of locations is another virtue that Dirty Dancing has on its side as you do come to feel at home in the resort and regret the fact that establishments like this disappeared.

The film is still an easy, classic watch that still tugs at the emotions at the end. Nobody puts Baby in the corner, indeed.
