The film is the laziest type of adaptation, one where the filmmakers have only gleaned the most surface-level aspects of the source material and then transplanted them without any of the depth that makes the games likeable.

Borderlands sure tries to be funny, but fails mightily – unless you take into account its oodles of unintended meta-commentary.

I never really know how to kick off these sorts of brutally negative reviews, so I suppose it is easiest to be blunt: Eli Roth’s Borderlands is a deeply terrible film.

Fans of the games are probably better off doing another run-through.
