Dougal Wilson’s Paddington in Peru is still as warm-hearted, humorous, and entertaining as the first two films, bringing both the beloved bear and the Brown family to new and unexpected places — literally and emotionally.

To suggest Paddington in Peru was worth the lengthy wait might be an overstatement, especially in comparison to the artistic heights of its predecessors, but that’s less than a knock against the sequel than a reflection of reality.

Paddington in Peru isn’t quite as good as Paddington 2, but it’s still terrific. As before, the quiet, marmalade-loving bear in his blue coat and floppy red hat serves as a polite foil for the wacky antics of character actors

As the credits roll we’re reminded of why we adore this marmalade loving bear and his endearing human family. Even more, it leaves us with the hope that there are more big screen Paddington stories set to be told. I know I’ll be there for them.
