Jamie Foxx stars as a paroled petty thief used by federal investigators to snare the criminals responsible for the theft of $42 million in gold from the United States Federal Reserve Bank in this action-packed comedy. He was a small-time hood; now he's Bait. Rearrested after stealing prawns, small-time crook Alvin Sanders (Foxx) lands himself in a cell with John Jaster (Robert Pastorelli), half of the gold-thieving duo. With Jaster's partner, Bristol (Doug Hutchinson), still at large, U.S. Treasury agents, led by investigator Edgar Clenteen (David Morse), secretly implant an experimental tracking device in Alvin and set him free. At the same time, they circulate a rumor that Jaster told Alvin where gold is, hoping that Bristol will emerge from hiding to silence Alvin. Now, Alvin must survive the crooks, the Feds and his own bad luck.

Critics Consensus: Even though Jamie Foxx shines in Bait, the movie suffers from music video roots and a formulaic script that strains credibility.
