As time goes on, the story slips into familiar territory and ultimately gives in to sentimentality, losing some of the emotional strength it initially seemed to promise. [Full review in Spanish]

We are treated to a film that is almost arrogantly self-indulgent, borrowing its structure so blatantly from better works that I call it grand theft.

A musical without musical numbers.

There’s nothing big or bold about this film, and even the beauty on display feels like a shallow approximation of what something like this should look like. It's just a hollow hallway of doors that lead to nowhere.

The problem is this self-consciously wacky and contrived fantasy feels gratingly synthetic and insincere. And despite the considerable appeal of the two leads, we don’t even buy their chemistry together.
