What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Our Ladies is an edgy but hilarious Scottish teen comedy drama about a group of Catholic school girls who spend much of the movie drinking, smoking, and talking about sex. The film -- adapted from a book and a stage play -- has strong adult themes throughout, though for older teens and adults it is a funny, touching, and powerful film about coming of age. Sexual intercourse is shown and there is an instance of full-frontal male nudity. Excessive drinking causes intoxication and sickness on occasion. The girls behavior also puts them in potentially dangerous situations such as fireworks being set off indoors. There is strong language throughout including "c--t" and frequent use of "f--k." Pregnant characters are seen to drink and smoke and there is reference to abortion. Terminal illness, chemotherapy, and the death of characters are also mentioned.
