Joe Kennedy was always a fighter. Before becoming the controversial 'Praying Coach' who would fight for religious liberties in America and go to the Supreme Court-not once, but twice-Joe was a troubled kid nobody wanted. Given up for adoption at birth and unwanted by his adopted parents, Joe learned to fight to survive. His only rock in a world full of abuse and rejection was Denise, the girl he fell in love with at first sight at the age of nine. Throughout Joe's bouncing around state-run boys' homes, he and Denise became confidants, writing letters to each other. When Joe joined the Marine Corps, Denise married another man. When Joe's own marriage fell apart, he went to fight in Operation Desert Storm. In the meantime, Denise was fighting her own war trapped in an abusive marriage. Finally leaving her husband to start a new life with her three kids, she and Joe lost contact for nearly a decade until the stars finally aligned for Joe and Denise. When a health scare threatened Denise's life, in a last-ditch effort, Joe did the unthinkable, surrendering his life to God and praying for a miracle. Feeling the call of God drawing Joe to coach football at the same school where Denise was head of HR, he took the lessons he learned in the Marine Corps to bring leadership to a struggling team. What began as a small act of thanks to God, taking a knee at the fifty-yard line after every game, spiraled into an attack on Coach's religious freedoms, ultimately costing him his coaching position. Always the fighter, Coach refused to let the rights he fought for be stripped away from him. With dogged determination, he fought with his legal team through the court system even though the backlash Denise faced at the school district nearly drove their marriage to the breaking point. On the verge of losing everything, a Hail Mary miracle gave Coach the strength to keep fighting and win back his wife, his faith, and his freedoms.
