Uproarious from raunchy start to rude finish, "American Wedding" is the embodiment of what the original "American Pie" aspired to be but fell short of — a go-for-broke riot that effectively combines touching moments with crass jokes.

...his characters have grown up, but his gags are still trying to graduate from high school...

American Wedding, the hardly awaited sequel to American Pie I and II, picks up right where the others left off. Which is to say it starts at the bottom and works its way down from there.
