Never Grow Old is a handsome, well-mounted Western in the old-tradition; it’s the kind of film that might have genre fans wondering if this is any good; it is good, the kind of tough, thoughtful film that’s increasingly hard to find but easy to recommend.

Cusack is convincing as the bad guy, only ever shot in deep shadow, but all the other one-note characters lack the depth to truly bring the story to life.

Violent Western has few positive messages and some language.

The story itself is rather predictable and slightly derivative. However, this doesn't prevent it being an entertaining and engrossing western.
