Troy Donahue stars as the man whom a sheltered young librarian finds when she travels to the land of opera and Latin lovers to learn about romance on a Rome Adventure. When New England assistant librarian Prudence Bell (Suzanne Pleshette--"The Bob Newhart Show") is reprimanded by the faculty of Briarwood College for allowing girls to read a book the school considers too explicit, she resigns her post and travels to Italy--"where they know about love." As soon as she steps aboard the steamship for the Atlantic crossing, Prudence catches the eye of Roberto Orlandi (Rossano Brazzi--South Pacific). Then, in Rome, she meets American architecture student Don Porter (Donahue--A Summer Place, Palm Springs Weekend), a handsome, caring man experienced in matters of the heart. And as the two travel together to every beautiful corner of the ancient romantic country, Prudence learns what it is to be in love.
