Hunted by mysterious forces, a young woman (Gugu Mbatha-Raw) with supernatural abilities must go on the run when her powers are discovered. With nowhere else to go, she flees back to her family and the farmhouse she abandoned long ago. There, while being pursued by the local Sheriff (David Strathairn), she begins to mend the broken relationships with her mother (Lorraine Toussaint) and daughter (Saniyya Sidney) and unearths the depths of the power within her.

This is an ambitious project from director Julia Hart, who is a talented artist in her own right. There’s a lot here to like, and you can see the pieces of an incredible film here...

In Fast Color, cast members bring warmth and empathy to their roles. David Strathairn is a welcome presence in a key supporting part.

Beautifully conceived both narratively and visually; thematically rich and full of inspiration. This is a film truly worth championing, and I’m happy to do so.

At times awkwardly uneven. But the mystery that powers Ruth's plight, echoing the world's dried-up agony, is atmospherically rich, and the film, like its protagonists, carries a certain grace.

Fast Color is a story from the heart. Each actor makes the characters their own, bringing dimension and emotion to every scene. We witness three black women harnessing their power as people and as supernatural beings.
