The producers of M3GAN high dive into the deep end of horror with the supernatural thriller, Night Swim. Wyatt Russell (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) stars as a former major league baseball player, forced into early retirement by a degenerative illness, who moves into a new home with his wife (Oscar® nominee Kerry Condon) and their two children. The new home comes complete with a backyard swimming pool, but a deep secret surfaces and unleashes a malevolent force that will drag the family into the inescapable depths of terror.

There are a lot of missed opportunities that led to laughter for the wrong reasons. This movie has so much untapped potential, and it is a shame it ended up a messy puddle.

It’s fairly by-the-numbers Blumhouse fare but is also pretty fun and seems to be a crowd pleaser. It won’t make your best of list this year but it’s good for a fun jolt at the movies, which is exactly what we expected here.

Even with a couple of good actors in the lead — including a recent Oscar nominee — there’s not much to get excited about with “Night Swim,” the latest thriller from the powerhouse horror producers Jason Blum and James Wan.

One of those cursed house films, not suitable for those afraid of water. [Full review in Spanish]

The latest Blumhouse release is about as scary as a Babe Ruth candy bar floating in the Bushwood CC swimming pool. Now what was that term Spalding used? Oh yeah, “Doodie!”
