Night Swim's "what if The Shining but in a pool instead of a hotel" premise is too goofy to take seriously and too repetitive and bland to be frightening.

There isn’t anything even half as frightening as my neighborhood pool during the waning weeks of every summer, when the useless HOA has stopped paying for its upkeep and allowed all manner of dead insects and unidentified fungi to blanket the surface.

Despite 'Night Swim's intriguing concept, its execution falters, leaving audiences more amused than frightened by its poolside horror.

Night Swim may have worked just fine as a short film back in 2014, but stretched & padded out to feature length, the idea simply drowns, becoming a rather dull & tedious mess that not even the talent of the wonderful Kerry Condon can save.

Murky and dumb and neither shallow nor deep, and not enough of anything in particular.
