The danger with a parody is that the joke can get old quickly, but Walk Hard is blessedly full of laughs that would stand up even outside of the spoof framework.

This spends so much time dutifully tracking the clichés inherent in these types of films that a certain by-the-numbers stagnation begins to settle in.

Fifteen years after its theatrical release, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story remains the be all-end all for the musical biopic genre.
