Life's ups and downs take their toll on three 40-something couples who frequently vacation together. Their perfect dynamic is forever changed when one friend leaves his wife for a much younger woman. It’s more of a promising outline than a satisfying movie unto itself.

...slightly erratic yet predominantly rewarding...

When the movie is in its groove, it's a delight.

Weston is the personification of the word ham. By the time he falls through the ice, in a sequence where the suspension of disbelief must be thrown out of the solar system, one almost hopes he'll drown.

Alan Alda leads a fine cast both in front of and behind the camera in this appealing, serious look at middle-aged friendships.
