Surprisingly great! Though less distinct then its predecessors, it boasts some franchise HOF moments along with solid performances, a cloying atmosphere, and the return of the xenomorphs in their nasty glory

All the big moves have been so dutifully rehearsed in previous films that it’s no longer shocking to find a creepy little monster plastered on someone’s face or bursting from a human chest.

After the pompous stodge of Prometheus and Alien Covenant, Alien Romulus is at least exciting, atmospheric, inventive and committed to making audiences jump or gasp.

Alvarez is clearly a fan of the franchise (and includes a couple Easter eggs in the dialogue to prove it), and he makes “Alien: Romulus” a thrilling addition to it.

Alien: Romulus shows that you can resort to nostalgia without parasitizing from what was previously rendered to the point of forgetting to tell something new. [Full review in Spanish]
