Paul Newman, Edward G. Robinson, and Elke Sommer star in this drama based on Irving Wallace's novel following six Nobel Prize winners in Stockholm, including a disillusioned American writer. When physics expert Dr. Max Stratman is kidnapped and replaced by his wicked twin brother, American Andrew Craig gets wind of the plot and, with the help of a Swedish foreign office functionary, tries to rescue the real scientist.
