What Parents Need to Know

Parents need to know that Green Lantern: Beware My Power is a 2022 animated superhero story in which a former Marine is the reluctant wearer of the Power Ring that makes him the newest Green Lantern. Expect animated violence throughout. The lead character struggles with PTSD, and has flashbacks of his time as a sniper in a war zone; through the point of view of crosshairs, we see enemy soldiers shot and killed before a battle breaks out involving machine guns, rocket launchers, punches, kicks. Next, we see the lead character save an unhoused man with a bottle of booze from getting burned alive by two street toughs who spray the man with lighter fluid as they light a match -- fighting with punches, kicks, broken bottle. Fighting with lasers, spaceships that crash and explode as superheroes and villains do battle. Some strong language, including "s--t." On the positive side, the lead character and latest version of Green Lantern is a Black man in a genre that has historically had heroes who were almost entirely White.
