Flama (Daniel Miranda) and Moko (Diego Cataño), two 14-year-olds who have been best friends since childhood, have everything they need as they face another boring Sunday: an apartment free of parents, videogames, pornographic magazines, soft drinks, and a pizza about to be delivered. But various forces--the electric company, Rita (Danny Perea) the neighbor, pizza deliveryman Ulises (Enrique Arreola), a batch of marijuana-laced brownies and a horrible painting of ducks--combine to derail Flama and Moko's simple plan for an easygoing Sunday. During the course of the day, several issues surface, including Flama's anger over his parents' impending divorce, Moko's confused feelings for Flama, the thanklessness of Ulises' job and Rita's loneliness on her 16th birthday, which has been completely forgotten at her home. But when the lights go out, they'll all see the stars in the coming-of-age comedy Duck Season.

Critics Consensus: This modest cinematic slice-of-life manages to subtly capture many small but resonant and truthful moments of adolescence.
