This little fantasy has been written for the screen and directed by Delmer Daves, who gave [the audience] the kind of amusement I'm sure wasn't intentional.

Episode 6: Bourbon and Smoke

Most of the time Bogart is convincingly efficient as the man with the cards stacked against him. Those other times, however, when he is attempting escape, he looks and acts so suspicious even a trusting cocker puppy would have its doubts.

In this third pairing of Bogie and Bacall, the plot is outrageously unique, considering that the leading man isn't fully revealed until more than an hour into the picture.
