Insidious and very silly, this glossy thriller works overtime to crank up suspense, even as it's difficult to take seriously.

I would have liked Cellar Door more if the cellar door actually served any purpose to the story. Instead, what the door represents becomes more of a heavy-handed metaphor than a relevant part of the plot.
