The four friends tumble through a parade of outlandish setbacks, including a literal giant anaconda, yet the film takes too long to find its rhythm and often fails to stick the landing with some of its bigger laugh moments.

Boasting more star power than all the Anacondas put together, but noticeably fewer laughs, what could have been a fresh take on familiar material ends up a regurgitated mess.

While it remains an example of Hollywood recycling nostalgia rather than forging new stories, Anaconda proves that, in the right filmmaker's hands, it's possible to strike a satisfying compromise.

Anaconda could have been included in that conversation, but instead it’s too much like a big studio poking fun at itself while doing the exact thing it attempts to make light of.

Anaconda is a forgettable meta comedy that lacks bite. The cast brings plenty of energy to it, but the film often takes the easiest routes imaginable.
