With an acclaimed performance by Michelle Pfeiffer, ‘Where Is Kyra?’ tells the story of Kyra Johnson, a middle-aged divorcee who moves into her elderly mother’s Brooklyn apartment while she looks for work and tries to get back on her feet. When her mother dies suddenly, Kyra is left without any support, both emotional and financial, and finds herself with very few options – none of them good. Despite a blossoming affair with a sympathetic neighbor (Kiefer Sutherland), who has problems of his own, Kyra can’t accept that her once-tidy life has completely fallen apart. This leads her on a risky path of self-destruction that has devastating consequences.
Rotten Tomatoes® Score
Critics Consensus: Where Is Kyra? rests on Michelle Pfeiffer's magnetically raw performance -- and lives up to it with a trenchant, hard-hitting story.

What Parents Need to Know
Parents need to know that Where Is Kyra? is a dark, heavy drama about a woman (Michelle Pfeiffer) caught in a worsening spiral of financial distress after her elderly mother's death. The main issues here are strong language (not constant, but including "f--k," "s--t," "bulls--t," etc.) and drinking. Some characters overdo it, once leading to a drunken hookup. Sex between consenting adults is heard but not shown; there's also heavy making out, and a woman is seen in her underwear in low light. The film's oppressive tone/mood will likely make it too intense for younger viewers. Kiefer Sutherland co-stars.
