In Shadow Force, Kyrah (Washington) and Isaac (Sy) were once the leaders of a multinational special forces group called Shadow Force. They broke the rules by falling in love, and in order to protect their son, they go underground. With a large bounty on their heads, and the vengeful Shadow Force hot on their trail, one family's fight becomes all-out war.

The writing is godawful – the twists are of the lame-tryhard variety, and Carnahan wedges in some meager sentimental family-is-everything thematic balogna – and the execution depressingly generic.

The film opens with a gunpowdered family drama, but soon sheds all but the automatic clichés in which neither Kerry Washington nor Omar Sy manage to convey. [Full review in Spanish]

Da’Vine Joy Randolph is criminally wasted. It’s like a shelved project that gets released when a cast member got famous. I’m hoping she filmed this before The Holdovers, because if these are the kinds of roles she’s being offered, then shame on Hollywood.
