Recuperating after a near-fatal ambush, Chief Carlton Lassiter notices strange things happening at his recovery center. He calls on Shawn and Gus, who return to Santa Barbara to help him uncover the truth. As they dig into the mystery, they must uncover the hidden agendas and dangerous secrets lurking within the facility before the threats closing in on Lassiter-and themselves-turn deadly.

the character’s concern for Lassie feels real and organic without being advantageous. It gives an added weight to the series that was never really there before and makes the ending even overwhelmingly emotional.

Hilarious sequel delivers laughs for fans of detective show.

Thankfully, the return of Shawn Spencer (James Roday) and Burton "Gus" Guster (Dulé Hill) doesn't stretch the story too far (it feels like a typical mid-series episode, just longer than usual).

Every joke lands, every serious moments fits in with the comedy, and every guest star, new and known, is as welcome as an old friend.

Funny is funny, and Shawn and Gus are an enduring comedy pairing.
