A group of friends on their way to a college football game falls prey to a pair of murderous brothers in an abandoned small town. The friends discover that the psychotic siblings have expanded the area's main attraction--the House of Wax--and created an entire town filled with the wax-coated corpses of unlucky visitors. Now the group must find a way out before its members also become permanent exhibits in the House of Wax. Remake of the Warner Bros. horror classic, which was the first release of a 3-D film by a major studio.

Despite its annoyingly angsty teen dialogue and incomplete thematic elements, House of Wax successfully expands the legacy of The Wax Works story with interesting ideas and entertainingly grotesque moments.

Better than it has any right to be, its brutality and absurdity help elevate what could have been a rote rehash.

A stylish and mean slasher remake (yes, of Tourist Trap!) that leans too much into its twin fixation and breaks up the group needlessly. The production design is the real star here: the melty finale is a true spectacle

Holding the movie up to a flame shows it can't hold a candle to its predecessor.

Although it's filled with stupid characters who make basic horror movie mistakes (they take the detour, accept a ride from a stranger, investigate the creepy town, etc.), it also has a way of getting under the skin.
